Goal and Action 18: Employment and Training

Houston provides increased employment training opportunities that address a wide range of occupations and industries, offered in a culturally sensitive and language-sensitive manner, inside and outside the workplace including in the public schools. (3.9)

Actions Proposed by Participants

• Attract a wider range of industries, including technology industries and light manufacturing.
• Increase language and cultural sensitivity training offered in a variety of settings including the public schools.
• Coordinate training with available jobs.
• Adopt economic development incentives that create jobs closer to where people live.
