In association with its 65th Annual convention, the Texas Society of Architects will be hosting a public forum on the recently released Housing Strategies for Houston report. The report represents the views of national experts on housing policies that Houston should consider adopting to meet the challenges of future growth.

On Saturday, October 23rd and 30th, the Land Assemblage Redevelopment Authority (LARA) in conjunction with the City of Houston Planning and Development Department will host a series of workshops that will provide the community with feedback and results from previous workshops. Public input is being collected to formulate a community driven plan that will address the growing number of tax delinquent and vacant properties in urban Houston.
LARA became a governmental corporation in 2003 though an inter-local agreement between the City of Houston, Harris County and HISD. The purpose is to return unproductive tax delinquent properties to productive use, increase affordable housing opportunities, stimulate mixed use development and eliminate blight.
