join us for a Blueprint Houston
cocktail reception honoring Guy Hagstette
for his significant contributions to planning in
Houston. The event, entitled “We Built
This City” will be Thursday, June 20,
2013, in the gallery space of One Allen Center and
will benefit Blueprint Houston and its mission of
assuring the creation of a General Plan for the
City of Houston based on citizens’ vision,
values, and goals.
Guy Hagstette has focused much of his professional
career on downtown Houston. He has been the go-to
person for many groups to get things done, playing
many roles: architect, urban designer, volunteer,
management district executive, political advisor,
investor. His name is synonymous with such projects
as Sesquicentennial Park, Buffalo Bayou Park, Discovery
Green, and the Downtown Development Framework. He
blends a passion for the City’s heritage with
a commitment to ensuring that Central downtown will
be the City’s business hub and a place to
live, shop, and play.
The event will include an architectural exhibition
graciously underwritten by Nancy and Richard
Kinder and others that highlights Guy’s
projects as well as other noteworthy projects that
have contributed to the transformation of downtown
over the past 25 years. We also welcome Lisa
Foronda as emcee. The Doubletree Hotel
will create a variety of delectable hors d’oeuvres
and libations with musical entertainment by Harry
Sheppard.
We
