The Mayor announced on April 4th that Houston
is expected to have a 2.7% increase in jobs in 2006, the highest
rate percentage of 12 of the largest metropolitan areas in
the nation. The Texas Workforce Commission reported 42,500
jobs were created in the Houston area in 2005.
Where are these jobs locating? One way to assess which part
of town is growing is to look at office vacancy rates. The
chart below indicates popular areas are in Westchase and Woodlands,
as opposed to areas closer to the center of Houston.
