Goal and Action 21: Housing

Houston redevelops its subdivisions into beautiful neighborhoods with housing for all economic and age groups located in the proximity of parks, schools, shops, police services and places of work. (3.8)

Actions Proposed by Participants

• Develop regulations that facilitate the creation of neighborhoods with diverse housing types so that people of different income, needs and age can live together.
• Increase rates of homeownership and the supply of decent, affordable housing with help from the Housing and Community Development Department and other housing-related organizations.
• Assist low-income residents in purchasing their homes.
