Goal and Action 22: Immigration

Houston provides opportunities for immigrants to learn how our government works so they can access jobs, education opportunities and the justice system on par with non-immigrants. (3.4)

Actions Proposed by Participants

• Teach American Civics at all levels so that immigrants can more easily use the justice and other governmental systems.
• Promote bilingual education for better communication between immigrant and non-immigrant populations.
• Develop outreach programs to serve the immigrant population better.
