4. Demographics of Citizens' Congress

Blueprint Houston made every effort to ensure that attendance at the Citizens' Congress was representative of the registered voter population in Houston. Extensive outreach was made to invite delegates from all parts of Houston. The tables below provide a demographic description of the attendees.

In summary, the racial/ethnic makeup of the Congress closely matched the demographics of the voting population in Houston. Approximately one third of the participants earned less than $40,000, one third earned $50 - 75,000 and one third earned more than $100,000. Forty-six percent of the participants live in side the Loop and 54% live outside the Loop. In short, the Citizens' Congress provides a solid foundation for increasing community support for a planning process to make improvements to Houston 's quality of life and place.
